Vehicle-specific or universal electrical kit - differences.
A further subdivision of electrical kits for towbars is made according to the type of connection. A distinction is made here between electrical kits that are universal or vehicle-specific.
Universal electrical kits are connected to the rear lights of the car. For installation, individual wires on the cable strand in the car must be determined in order to connect the cables from the electrical kit accordingly. No special tools are needed to connect a universal electrical kit. A universal E-kit works directly after installation.
Vehicle-specific electrical kits are equipped with one or more plugs that you have to connect to suitable sockets on the car. Installation is often easier than with universal electrical kits, but such wiring harnesses often need to be unlocked. Activation means the corresponding configuration of the board computer. A vehicle-specific service software is required for the activation.
