How does air suspension work?

The way air suspension works is relatively simple. In a typical system, air is pumped into a rubber diaphragm or air bellows that serve as the suspension medium. The air is generated by a compressor and stored in the air springs.

When the vehicle hits a bump or road imperfection, the shock is absorbed by the air suspension. The air in the suspension is compressed, creating a resisting force that springs the vehicle back to its original position.
