Electric kit for trailer hitch - 7 or 13 pole differences

An electrical kit (often referred to as a harness, wiring harness or E-kit ) has the function of transmitting the electrical signals from the car to the trailer or rear carrier. E-kits for trailer hitch are divided into two groups: 7-pole and 13-pole.

A 7-pin harness is a simplified e-kit that transmits the basic lighting from the car to the trailer or bike carrier.

The 13-pin electrical harnesses can transmit other signals to the trailer or bike carrier in addition to the basic lighting, e.g. additional lighting, charging line for battery on the trailer, or similar.

Both types of electrical kits are approved in Germany and in the EU.
