Frame extension for trailer hitch on motorhome
In order to retrofit a trailer hitch on some motorhomes, a load-bearing frame extension of the vehicle chassis is required. The type of motorhome - semi-integrated, fully integrated or alcove - is less importance. The frame extension for the Ford Transit FT350 2000- consists of the following elements:
- Frame adapter,
- Frame extensions
- Reinforcements,
- And a crossbar.
The frame adapters are mounted to the original mounting holes on the chassis of the Ford Transit FT350 2000-. The advantage of this towbar frame extension is that no modifications on the vehicle frame are required to retrofit the frame extension. Special longitudinal members with reinforcements are screwed to the adapters to form a load-bearing frame. Finally, a crossbar is mounted between the longitudinal members. The crossbar is typically replaced by a variable towbar. Since the longitudinal member of the frame extension is very universal, it fits all common trailer hitches (XIMPLIO, SMV-Metall, Linnepe, SAWIKO, and many other manufacturers).
