The correct towball height is precisely defined by European regulations and is between 350 and 420 mm. This correct height is decisive for trailer use, but does not play a role when using a bicycle carrier.
However in many cases, it makes sense to rise the towball for bicycle carriers. In loaded vehicles with a bike carrier attached, the rear of the vehicle can drop, which could result in the rack or bicycles hitting the ground. This problem occurs particularly with longer carrier systems for three or four bikes. In such situations, towball height adjustment becomes important not only for reasons of comfort, but also to minimise damage and prevent the carrier from touching down.
Heavy bike carriers, such as those for mountain bikes or e-bikes, also place a heavy load on the rear of the vehicle, meaning that the end of the carrier can touch the ground. This is where an towbar drop plate or towball height adaptor for bike carriers offers the ideal solution.
This simple and efficient solution is suitable for bike carriers, rear boxes and similar rear racks systems with a total weight of up to 80 kg. The adaptor allows the towball height to be gradually adjusted upwards by 155 or 170 mm.
A particular advantage is that the towbar ball height adaptor fits all European balls, regardless of whether they are fixed or detachable, have a bolt or swan-neck shape, or are made of steel or aluminium.
