The correct towball height is precisely defined by European regulations and is between 350 and 420 mm. This correct height is decisive for trailer use, but does not play a role when using a bicycle carrier.

However in many cases, it makes sense to rise the towball for bicycle carriers. In loaded vehicles with a bike carrier attached, the rear of the vehicle can drop, which could result in the rack or bicycles hitting the ground. This problem occurs particularly with longer carrier systems for three or four bikes.
