This high-quality tailgate bike carrier from the Italian manufacturer MENABO was specially developed for the full width of the VW T5, one of Volkswagen's best-known vans.

The VW T5 (type 7TH/7EH) is the official designation of the VW bus from Volkswagen Group, which was introduced in 2003 as the successor to the T4.

The Shadow rear bike carrier can transport up to three bikes or two FAT-Bikes or electric bikes and is suitable for all models in the T5 series, including California, Transporter, Multivan, Bus and Caravelle, manufactured between 2003 and 2015.

Rear carrier for e-bike with mounting on the tailgate

The rear carrier is mounted directly on the tailgate using vehicle-specific brackets and offers space for up to three conventional bikes or two e-bikes with a maximum total weight of 45 kg / ~ 99 lbs.

The frame is made of sturdy steel, the rails are made of lightweight aluminium and the brackets are made of durable plastic.

The rack is highly versatile and suitable for bikes with different frame shapes, tyre sizes and widths. Technical details include a frame diameter of 30-50 mm / ~ 1,2 – 2 inches (round) and 30 x 30-50 x 70 mm / 1,2 x 1,2 – 2 x 2,75 inches (oval), a tyre size of 22-29 inches, a maximum tyre width of 110 mm / 4,3 inches and a centre distance of 114 cm / ~45 inches. Thanks to the adjustable brackets and extra-long straps, it is also ideal for mountain bikes and fat bikes.

For cars with and without towbars

The pre-assembled tailgate bicycle carrier is ready for immediate use without complicated assembly. Although the SHADOW has been specially developed for mounting on the tailgate and does not require a towbar, vehicles that already have a towbar can still be fitted with an additional trailer or even a second bike rack, offering maximum flexibility.
